Why Do Some Projects Lag On For Years?

Why Do Some Projects Lag On For Years?  Do you have a project that has been in the works for years?  I do.  Our Master Bathroom.  It wasn’t on our immediate to-do list when we bought the house, but since we had some leftover granite and flooring from the kitchen remodel, we did a simple “free” makeover to the vanity and flooring in the master bathroom.  You can see that whole makeover here.

Then two years later I finally stained the vanity cabinet and added some hardware, so things were really looking up.  The flooring and granite were free, so this bathroom hadn’t really cost us anything at this point.  Time to give it a bit of love.  Stain and some hardware totally changed things again.

Since this is where we started, this seemed like a huge upgrade.

As you could see in the above picture, we stopped at the door to the shower.  It got flooring, but that was it.  Still on the to-do list were to replace the toilet and the shower doors.  Well, I finally got the toilet replaced last week.

That would seem like a simple task, however not really.  First of all, there was a shortage of toilets unless you wanted a really, really expensive one ($800 to $1500).  Then there was the problem of finding a plumber that would just switch out a toilet.  I got quotes as high as $300 to switch a toilet.

Finally more reasonably priced toilets were available and I found a plumber that would install the new one for $150.00 so I had that project done.  One more thing off the to-do list.

That leaves me with only one more project for this bathroom.  New shower doors.  No one stocks them anymore, they have to be special ordered.  Then the next problem is installation.  It seems that installation is more than the cost of nice shower doors.  Unless you have a big remodel job, it is hard to find workers to do small projects.  So, I am stuck with my shower doors for a while longer.

I would really love a nice frameless set of clear glass doors, but these still function perfectly, so I guess they will have to do for a while longer.  Are you having problems finding help to do small projects too?  At this point, I am just grateful I have these doors.

When we built this home, we got the builder to get the clear shower doors from Home Depot and they are terrific!!
In our last home, when we upgraded our Master Bath, we got our shower doors from Costco!! YES, Costco and wow
were they nice!! I also had the same ones installed at Mum’s house when we took out her tub and made her a (safer)
walk in shower (she is now 95, so now more tubs for her!!)
    Just something to maybe consider.
    Your bath looks great!!!

As a person who hates shower doors why not put a pretty shower curtain over them. I did that and I like the look. You just push it aside when showering.
