My Antique Clock Collection

Every time I share my Girl Cave/Office I get tons of questions about My Antique Clock Collection.  I do have quite a few – 8 to be exact.  These are cherished pieces that my mother collected.  When she passed my three children each picked out a couple of clocks and I picked out some of my favorites.  She had over 30.

When you come in the door you can see all the way through to the back of the house.  If you look up you can see the loft at the top of the stairs.

At the top of the stairs you turn right and that is where the loft space is.  I really enjoy being in this room.  You can see two clocks by my desk and one by the leather chair.

These two above my desk are ones you have seen many times.  There are a lot of reproductions made from these two different styles.   The one on the left is called a Regular School Clock.  The one on the right is a Kitchen Clock.  In the 1904 Sears Catalog, you can buy one similar for $1.50.  These were made out of pressed (not carved) wood.

The large wall clock by the leather chair is really unusual.  My uncle found it when they were tearing down a school in LA.  It was a clock that rang all the bells for school.  You had a button for School start, lunch, after lunch, and school day over.  He totally restored the clock and all the bells work.

Standing by my desk you can see the landing at the top of the stairs.  This is a really generous size area.

These antique pictures and frames are ones I inherited from my Mother of my ancestors.

The clock on the angled section of the wall is my most prized.  My dad built custom houses and my Mom was really crafty too.  She had a laithe and she made this clock for me.

There are two special plaques inside.  One says Made Just For You Marion & Erwin Longino.  The bottom one says Love Mother & Daddy 1977.  I was a young woman with a new home and this took center stage.  It still does in my heart.

Above the chest in the landing I have another Kitchen Clock and a Mantel Clock.

The Kitchen Clock is a different design from the one over my desk and the glass clock face has a different gold-painted design.

The Mantel clock is very ornate with gold gild, marble and a really fancy brass carved clock face.

I have one in the Guest Bedroom also.

This one is really different.  I has a pendulum that hangs from the bottom but doesn’t have a case to cover it.  It’s a Regulator without the bottom wood design.

Downstairs I have one hanging in the breakfast area

This one is super fancy and would have normally hung in the parlor.  It’s made with fancy burlwood accents.

My last amazing clock is not really an antique, it’s one my husband gave me for our 25th Anniversary and he even had it carved.  We use to always forget our Anniversaries.   I woke up one morning and went into the kitchen for coffee and there was this amazing bouquet of flowers, a beautifully wrapped gift, and a card. IT WAS OUR 25TH ANNIVERSARY AND I FORGOT!!!!!!!!!

I don’t think I have ever felt so bad.  How could I forget such an important day?  Jim just gave me a hug and kiss and laughed.  He had remembered and even had the clock engraved. I miss him so much and cherish this clock.  I have it on the TV console so I can see it every day.  Such a special loving gift.

I don’t have any other real collections, just My Antique Clock Collection, but I love being able to see and decorate with them all.  How about you, do you have any collections?

Marty, what a fantastic clock collection! The school clock is indeed unusual and kind of fun. How sweet of your mom to make that pretty clock for you! All the detail that she added is just beautiful. Now I know where all your craftiness and love for home decor come from. I enjoyed reading this post and the stories about each clock, priceless treasures!
