Cloches and Fall Decorating

I just wanted to remind you of the "Fall Cloche Party" on Sept. 17th. I can hardly wait.

Now so many of you say you don't know what to do with a cloche. How about one simple item, like this pumpkin, some berries and a bow and you're all done. Work a small vignette around it and it's special.

We aren't at all snobs when it comes to our cloche parties, all kinds of things qualify. There is a group of you who don't have a cloche. How about a hurricane. I showed you the one on my coffee table with just a candle and leaves. Imagine the same hurricane filled with apples, pumpkins, pinecones or a figurine. The possibilities are endless.

This is a different kind of hurricane. I know a lot of you have these. Just put anything inside, I've used a simple candle again, then place it in the middle of some other pretty fall things and it works.

So dig out those hurricanes, apothecary jars, mason jars, birdcages and anything you can possibly find and join the fun. Fill it all up to the nines or just place something simple inside and let's all party.

Grab the button on my sidebar and spread the word. Thanks a bunch.

  5. Very clever draping the burlap over the cloche, sugar. I've never thought of that. Maybe I'll try different fabrics or even ribbons and see how it turns out. Just lovely, your fall decorations.

  8. Your vignettes are beautiful as always. Im a little ahead, I had to do the dining room in Halloween due to an upcoming hectic schedule, but I think I can snap some shots of the living room..I should be almost done by the 17th. Woohoo, we're having a party at Marty's. Your button is on my page. P.S. I'll be in the hurricane/apothecary category as I dont yet have any cloches. One day!

  11. Hi Marty,
Thanks for the reminder. With so much going on here in blogland, it's hard to remember! I am planning to join in so I better get my thinking/creative cap on.

  13. I'm going to try and work with what I've got, Marty! I've got a small one I made from Goodwill finds with a faux cupcake under it at present, but I think it's time to change that out to a little pumpkin. Also, I do have an itch to check out a new thrift store by the day job; fingers crossed I might find a nice size one to decorate with.

  14. You are the furthest thing from a snob I have ever met and we all know this! I must re-think my cloches and pull out some mini punkins. hugs♥olive

  15. You are the queen of cloche, Marty...and you do it beautifully!!! I'm not sure I'll be participating, mostly because I REFUSE to decorate for fall for at least another month. We had almost zero spring, and winter started last October, so I'm just still in summer mode. I've decided to keep my summer stuff around until at least early October, maybe mid-October. Even so, though, I will definitely be visiting the blogs of those who are participating...I will undoubtedly get some great inspiration.

I also wanted to thank you for your kind words about my son's guitar. I was kind of surprised to read that your son and grandson also make guitars. It's really not that common of a thing to do...I've never heard of anyone who is into that...so it was a surprise to hear that you have two family members that do. Do they do it for a living? Or is it a hobby/side business? My son isn't sure if he wants to do it for a living (he's just 18), because he's quite passionate about police work, but he definitely enjoys making guitars and ukuleles too.

    Blessings,
    Patti

  33. Hi Marty!

You always give us such beautiful examples for decorating cloches, jars and other fun things! Although I am having fun camping, I am looking forward to going home and getting into some Autumn decorating. The weather here has been so Fall like and the trees are turning colors. I am just itching to add touches of Fall to our home!

U always find the best treasures to share with us, specially me over Sweden who have another way of lifestyle, compare the American way of living.

  38. Marty,
I have been loving your blog for a while. Your home is so warm and, well, homey :), and you make us feel like a part of it with your writing style. My big sister discovered your blog recently and she has been so inspired! She is a self-proclaimed non decorator. But she has been viewing your blog, getting lots of ideas. She is now planning to join your cloche party!!! Thanks for your beautiful posts, and for sparking our creativity.

Just wanted to thank you for coming by yesterday and all your sweet and encouraging comments on my Beachy
tablescape. I had such fun doing it.

Love how you did your cloche, and also the hurricane globe with the leaves looks so pretty, and all the better when you built a vignette around it. Looks Wonderful and so like Fall.

I am hoping to get my stuff out today and get started. I am excited just thinking about it.

Hope you have a wonderful day and hope I will be able to participate in your cloche party. Should be!!
