Old World - Frenchy Accessories

I've been asked about the easels that I use so often in my vignettes.  I have a couple different styles and sizes and they add so much to my displays.

This one is definitely one of my favorites.  I have this same one in the large size and the medium size. I am using the medium one here to display my grandson's baby picture.  It adds such elegance to the vignette and so much old world/frenchy charm with the scrolls and the added detail on the two floral tips.  I found it at Home Goods and I still see them there.  They are only $6.99, so that's a ton of drama and ambience for the price.

This is the large one.  It holds a larger frame nicely and is taller so it is wonderful to use in the background.

I love finding ornate frames and creating a picture gallery.

You can also use these in a much less formal display.  One of my bookcases has room for a couple of pics and I have a cow picture displayed on the medium one in this vignette.

It doesn't have to look formal, it just adds character and a touch of old world charm.

I have another one that is wrought iron.  It is large enough for a full size plate.  Very informal, but depending on how you use it in a vignette it can work in any setting.  I found this one at Ross for around $7.  I have also seen them at TJMaxx for reasonable prices and many different styles to choose from.

I think this one works perfect with the silver tray and glass hurricane vignette.

I really like that they are unusual and so versatile.  I love to find things that can be used in a number of ways.  I have used them to hold books, and even an open cookbook in the kitchen.

Do you use them and do you have any unique way to display your treasures?

  16. I love the way you've used these easels, Marty! They are great for giving a little lift to pictures in a vignette. I have one or two that have some design, but I usually just get those plain black ones. I have one just for a cookbook in my kitchen. I love the way a cookbook on an easel looks in a kitchen by the stove.

  23. I have some of these too. One holds a ceramic plate that we write our shopping list on with a dry erase marker, and another holds a precious antique photo of a special place near where I grew up. Visitors often comment on them because of their charm. Yours are beautiful too! God bless x

  25. I have a bunch of wood easels I use for plates. I have a wrought iron easel that holds a big bowl and I think it's wonderful. Not too long ago I found 2 matching cream metal easels at Homegoods. Couldn't believe my luck. I will have to try pictures instead of always plates. Wonderful post Marty. By the way...do I owe you for my ad?

  29. Marty,
I use easels often. Some are ornate, others primitive, some are plain. Like you, easels are used for plates, photos, books , cook books, prints...anything that needs presence! Another tip: eliminates excessive nail holes in the walls. I can easel items for a side table instead of hanging on the wall! Lovely vignettes!
    Fondly,
    Pat
