Frenchmen, Cows, Silver, Pears, Grapes, Shoes

What in the world, well that is what all I found at GW this last Tuesday.  There has been nothing for quite a while, so I almost didn't stop, but so glad I did, I found some great treasures.  It was Senior Day, so everything was 25% off the price marked.

I found another little frenchman, this one is carrying a jug and a basket of grapes.  Love his cute little outfit.  The cow is also a great find, I love to use them in different vignettes.

The little cow was $2.99, and has such a pretty crackle finish.

A better look at the little frenchman, love the wrinkles in his brow.

 He was also $2.99

I have been looking  for a simple plate rack, and this one has such a pretty finish, bronze with just a touch of gold peeking through.

 $1.99 was a steal.

Two more silver trays.  One really large and one the size of a cake plate.

 $1.99 for the small

and $2.99 for the large one.

Two more cows.  I thought these were so cute.

See, it's a hook, Can't you just see an apron or tea towel hanging from these.

 More $2.99 treasures.

Two sizes of apples and pears and a bag of grapes.  $4.99 for the bunch.

Two vintage shoe lasts, and priced at $2.99 also.  Seems like someone priced almost everything that price.

I am having so much  fun playing with these new toys.  As soon as they find a home, I will show you where they are.

So what have you found out thrifty shopping.

  1. Your goodwill has FANTASTIC prices. Mine, not so much. I always wonder if somebody is smokin crack when our local goodwill prices things. Silverplate trays should not be $40 at goodwill!

  3. Great finds, Marty! I like your Frenchman and the cow towel holders are very cute. The prices where you shop are really low compared to our thrift shops. You also seem to have better quality items. I am interested in seeing how you use each new piece. Have a great weekend.----- Shannon

  5. Fun. :o) I am in the process of listing vintage items in my etsy shop if you would like to take a peek. I am also adding homemade items. I have a lot of hobnail pieces that are not too big (that I cherish) but due to our situation will begin listing them too. Oh and some pretty plates that are not vintage. Just in case you may be interested or know of anyone who would be. :o)

  8. WOW Marty,
You really scored! I LOVE the steel plate rack! That would have definitely followed me home too! AND those cows are ALL DEAR!!! I LOVE "Crackle"! The wall cows look like some I saw at William Sonoma a while back. LOVE THEM, and they would have followed me home too!!! WOW, your goodwill is SO professional. Ours just uses little colored sticky tags and most things are in the $1-2-3dollar range. they NEVER use $2.99, JUST a PLAIN $3, hehe!!! Maybe people are SPRING CLEANING NOW and the thrift stores should have some GOOD BOUNTY!!!
    Have a wonderful weekend,
    Hugs,
    Donna

  16. You hit the big time there this time, Marty! I had one of those cow towel holders years ago. It was on the side of my cabinet right by the sink to hold a towel. I love when someone gets those "sticker markers" in their hand and goes around and everything is the same price-xo Diana

  28. You find the best stuff! I have just about decided that it would be cheaper for me to fly to your GW than to shop at mine.

    OK... I exaggerate.
    But just a little.

  29. You have a much cheaper Goodwill than I do! I was looking for couch pillows to recover and they were all around 4.00. I love the cow hangars! I think my Mom had something similar and I always loved it.

  36. congrats on finding $2.99 day at Goodwill. :-)
LOVE the cows, all of them -- and at first you confused me with the fruit, as I thought it was REAL. It's very nice faux!
And if you want to wrap up that plate rack and send it here ... I could find a home for it.
All this reminds me -- I need to visit goodwill this weekend.

  40. Boy Marty did you ever clean up at GW. Wow. I went last week while you were gone and there was zippo, nada, nothing. You told me there wouldn't be and there wasn't. What a difference a few days make. But I went to the GW near my daughters house which is quite south from you. I thought what a waste of my time and that I should have listened to you. But I did clean up at that Homegoods off of McDowell. Holy mackerel did I ever. They had marked down all their darling Shamrock dishes and things to half price. It was so fun. I put some of the things on my last mondays post and I think on your linky party.

Anyway it was truly fun talking with you. Perhaps one day we'll both be there at the same time so we can meet.

    Hugs,

    Nann

I just saw the wood shoe fittings at the GW here on Wednesday, too. I think it was senior day because it was so busy ~ I'd never seen it so hopping!
