I needed to clean the windows in the familyroom, so of course they got their usual treatment with the car window fluid, however the screens were really dusty. So first I hosed them off and they still looked kind of dirty, so I mixed up a batch of car wash stuff in a bucket and gave them a good scrub, then hosed them off and they look totally brand new. Plus they are so clean.
The label was partially torn off, so I copied this off the internet, but I used ArmorAll Car Wash. (Sorry I tried to enlarge the pic but it didn't work) I am not paid by them, just thought you might want to know that car wash cleaner works great on screens. I think you could use any kind of car wash, this just happened to be what was in the garage.
See how clean they are, you can't even tell there is a screen on the windows.
So if you have some windows that need cleaning, try using your car stuff. Works great.

Omgosh Marty I was just telling Doug about what you use on your windows yesterday. I am out of cleaner and I am going to get some of this, my windows are a mess. Do you still use that special cloth for your windows? I want to know exactly how you do it so my windows look as crystal clear as yours! xo Kathysue
ReplyDeleteThis is a great hint and I am going to try it. Your windows look crystal clear. xo

ReplyDeleteMarty, I think you are saying you use the car wash WINDOW cleaner for the windows and the car wash detergent for the screens, right??? I hope so. I am going to try this cause yours look awesome! XO, Pinky
ReplyDeleteThat is exactly right. Love the car wash window fluid for the windows. It cleans and never streaks. The car wash for the outside of the car did a fantastic job on the screens. Plus both are super inexpensive.
DeleteMarty, nice to know that this works good. I am so tired of streaky cleaners. thanks for the tip.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great tip! I have a house full of windows and screens that all need a good cleaning.
ReplyDeleteThanks for this great tip Marty. I put a few of my screens in without washing my windows this spring, but I will have to go back and wash both windows and screens or it will bug me. Nice to know there is something that will work really well and I'm anxious to try it.

I must tell you my tale of trying to clean my living room windows. They were so dirty when we moved in. I cleaned them and they looked the same. I asked people on facebook what they use. Well, to say the least I tried everything. I cleaned and cleaned and scrubbed and scrubbed to no avail. Then I realized they were double pained windows and they were dirty inside. What a nut I am! I don't know what to do about this now though.
ReplyDeleteHEY MARTY, Thanks for the great info, living in the country with trees and bugs, I can use something that really works. I head to store today.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great tip Marty. I do remember you saying this before and forgot until now. My windows need some cleaning.
ReplyDeleteMarty, this is awesome! I would of never thought of using this product! Do you put it in a spray bottle?
ReplyDeleteDoes it have to be diluted with water? I know too many questions! LOL I will definitely give this a try. After the storms we had lately, our windows need a serious scrub! Thank you for sharing!

ReplyDeleteCar Wash | Carwash | Car Cleaning
Hi! I just wanted to let you know that I love your blog and your house is exquisite! I tried your idea with the car wash window cleaner and am so happy that I did! For the first time in 31 years my windows have NO streaks! I washed 10 windows (and mini-blinds) and have another 13 tomorrow. I'm actually looking forward to seeing what else I can use this on! I'm thinking of my candle hurricanes that sit in the window and show every speck of dust. I will keep you posted! Thanks again!
