New to Me Sofa- - - - Again

Seems like I have been playing a lot of musical sofas lately.  Just a little history and a short story.  I had a plaid sofa in the family room, then I bought the one I now have in the living room, so the plaid one went to my son and the one previously in the living room went to the family room.  (Did you follow that?)  Now my daughter bought a new sofa, so the one she had in her living room she gave to me.

For now it sits here in my living room.  Sort of crowded, but it's a neat sofa, so I really wanted it.  See that fabulous wooden bucket, that was my Easter basket from her.  Can't wait to play with it.

This is the one I have in the familyroom now - (previously from the living room - -  keep up, this is complicated)

A great sofa, but really big and this room is really small, so this one is going to my son who has a new house. It will be fabulous in his living room. (The plaid one has been donated to Goodwill)

This is the one that will go into my familyroom.  It is a foot shorter than the one I have in there now and will look amazing.  More room and a much more open and airy look.  The tables won't have to be so close together to make it all fit.

Great style, nice and simple.  I love the soft cream color also.  Hopefully we can get the old one to my son this coming weekend and then I can rearrange everything.

Do you play musical furniture at your house with family members.  Never know what is going to be moving around between all of us.

  14. Isn't it nice when we can change things out within the family? My daughters and I do this all the time. They tell me that I am the queen of furniture re-arranging! This is something that I do all the time...Move a little table here and a chair there..in a few weeks, change something else up...Always makes the room look new!
    Hugs.

  15. You made me laugh out loud, girl...with the "Keep up, it's complicated" remark. HA! :) I think you guys are playing musical sofas over there. I love the cream one in your living room. It's beautiful! I'm in search of a painted garden stool and I hear there's one here somewhere. :)

  16. I'm dizzy from following all that furniture moving around and around! Actually, we do the same thing with my brother. He has many of our older pieces and we have a few things that he didn't want and brought here. I really like the sofa from your daughter. The shape and color are very nice. It's fun seeing how your own furniture looks in another family member's home. -----------Shannon

  20. Hi Marty, I paid very close attention and I think I followed all the moves. Your family is lucky to live close enough to each other to trade sofas! I think changing furniture around is a great way to feel like your house is new and to give a fresh perspective on things. My daughter is just setting up house now, and looking around my house for things to "borrow." Linda

  24. Running down to the goodwill tomorrow to see if I can find your sofa!! Haha, just kidding. This reminds me of many years ago when my mom was still alive. She loved buying new furniture ALL THE TIME. The recipients of her "old" furniture were my sister and me. People would come to my house and compliment me on my new furniture, back then one of the most common type of furniture was early American. I called mine, "early mother." Take care!

  26. Well Marty it's good to recycle and keep it in the family. Seems as though one family member always likes the others stuff better.

  27. I love it! It's great that you have family close enough to be able to do that. My kids live too far away to do any furniture exchanging, but it sure sounds like fun! :)

  28. Heavens yes! Things in our family go from person to person. My daughters huge pillows are on our family room sofa now! It's usually chairs with us...so far no sofa's have changed homes. Be sure and show us when everything is in place. I KNOW it's going to be pretty! Sorry I've missed the past couple of Table Top Tuesdays! :( I love those!

  35. Hi Marty! It's funny how the sofas stay "all in the family". Loved hearing about all the switch a roos!

I think you are really going to like your "new" sofa! I have always liked smaller sofas for some reason.
Looking at your house and wishing mine were more together.. This house redo is really making a mess of things!~
