Then and Now

I love Coffee Table books and the GW is a great place to find some really interesting ones.  I found one this week that is so interesting to look through.  A wonderful history of America showing Then and Now.

The Capitol during renovation in 1860.

 Inauguration 1993

 U. S. Soldier 1862

 U.S. Soldier Persian Gulf War

 Supreme Court 1876

 Supreme Court 1991

Even though this is an older book, how fun to look through and see so much history to compare.  There are some amazing pictures of the last 200 yrs.   Great teaching aid for children too.  I found 3 wonderful books and for $1 each.

Do you look for books at the GW and do you like history?

  14. Marty,
Wonderful book of American History! The photos are magnificent! I've found a few devotional books at our Goodwill for $2 each...but my greatest day was finding 7 Large Print books for my step~mother who is losing her sight and loves to read! She was elated and is still reading through the stack!!! Some times, one does get lucky at others cast offs!!!
    Fondly,
    Pat

  16. Oh, goodness, Marty--my husband was a History major, and I was a History minor. To say that we like history is an understatement! But I've never thought of really looking at the books at the thrift store. This one is so neat--I love the comparison photos!

Thanks so much for joining Grace at Home!
