Easy Peasy Yummy Cake

I can't remember what we use to call it, but remember when you made a cake, then poked holes in it while it was hot and poured juice all over it and down all the holes to soak up the juice.    Well, I just made one.

A yellow cake with crushed pineapple.

This is sort of a cheat and really simple.

1 yellow cake mix, bake as directed for a 9 x 13 sheet cake.

When done, take out of oven and  poke holes all over it with a wooden skewer.  I used a small can of crushed pineapple and poured the juice all over the cake, making sure to pour some down the holes.  Then I spread the pineapple all over the top.  Let cool to semi cool, sift confectioners sugar on top, then cover with saran. The sugar kind of melts into the juice since the cake is warm.  If you cover while still warm,  this helps the pineapple juice to continue to soak into the cake.

Cut a big piece, pour a glass of milk and enjoy.

That's it.  Super easy, simple and yummy.

  1. Oh yum! These are the best kinds of cake. I make something similiar that is called a Pin Colada Cake. You add crushed pineapple into the mix prior to baking, when hot you pour over a can of Cream of Coconut, then add more pineapple to whipped topping and top with toasted coconut. A whole lot more trouble than yours, so I think you have the better idea. LOL

I will try to figure this out in a gluten-free version. Hope you have a great week.

  2. Warm pineapple cake is so good, I believe these kind of cakes are called "poke" cakes. Jello had lots of recipes for them. I love using white cake mix with red and green jello. xo

  3. Looks like it would taste so yummy, Marty. We used to bake the cake and then poke it and pour jello over the top (Jell-o poke cake.) Red on one layer and green on the other, and then ice with cool whip. Festive and tasty.

  4. Yum! I love pineapple and I can imagine how good this is...Christine

  5. This looks delicious - just found your site and now a new follower - would like to invite you to come over and take a look at mine :-)

  6. We did that with the jello too and I think I like your version better. Will try it soon. Thanks for sharing.

  7. I love me some easy stuff! Hugs and blessings, Cindy

  8. OMG! I am drooling §:-) I am on the way to bed, Lady M? and if you are just around the city, I would never say no to this. I am a sugaholic and your cake looks so yummy.
