Breakfast Area Changes

I love it when everything is scrubbed and cleaned, tweaked and fluffed..  Makes even the same things feel and look so much fresher.  The breakfast area got a really good cleaning from top to bottom.

The walls have been washed down, the rugs turned and the tiles steam cleaned, looks sooooo good.

All of the furniture got a really good cleaning and polishing.   Nice and simple and ready for good food and fun conversation.

Since the familyroom is connected, I thought it would be fun to mix a few pillows and fabrics together and come up with a new color scheme for here also.  Love the chocolate and green pillow, and since there is green in the living room, this carries it right on through to this area.  Still shopping the house and not spending any money,  plus I am on track saving that extra $100 a month that was my New Year's goal.   I now have $200 in my kitty for something fun at the end of the year.  Gotta' love that.

Still working on all my deep cleaning and fluffing after Christmas.  I am so ready for an all new look, how about you?

  3. Good Afternoon Marty, First of all, congratulations on keeping to your goal of saving $100 a month, it will be so exciting at the end of the year when you have $1200.
I agree with you, there is nothing like cleaning and sorting to give a room a renewed vigour. It's amazing how we can change a room with items we already have.
    Have a lovely weekend.
    Best Wishes

  7. You right about having the breakfast area always nice and pretty because it's connected to the rest of the social area of the house. Ours is too and so yeah, we have to pay much more attention to it's pristiness condition !! Hugs,

  13. Don't you just love a top to bottom cleaning?! Your breakfast area looks beautiful (and clean) as ever! Your pillows are beautiful, as always ... love the colors you've chosen, too! And, you're right ... your "kitty" will be able to buy something super fun at the end of the year ... are you already dreaming about what that might be?

  14. Marty, I envy your energy. I really like the mix of patterns and textures you have used here. I have been meaning to comment on the picture hanging in the breakfast area. It warms my heart every time I look at it. It is the same picture that hung in the dining area of my husband's parent's home. They both passed away at a very young age(their 50's). They were so good to me and my husband and demonstrated to me how family should love one another. I cannot remember what happened to that picture, but I so wish we had kept it. Bless you, Marty, for always being such a great inspiration.

  23. I am so envious of your clean space. You always have the best cleaning advice: windows, mirrors, etc. So how do YOU wash your walls. Inquiring minds want to know? :)

    1. Really simple. I make sure they are wiped down first from all the dust, then just mild soap and warm water. I don't saturate them, just wash them and then dry them with a clean cloth.

  24. I am wondering if you have something in mind to get at the end of the year!? That is a great idea to ut it away each month. I agree that it feels SO good to do a good cleaning. I did that in the kitchen yesterday. It just make me go, AHHHHHHH>...... I love your new colors. Have a beautiful weekend, marty! XO, Pinky

    1. Nothing special for my savings. I just thought I could be a little more frugal that I have been and save more than just what I have been doing. So I gave myself a goal of an extra $100.

  26. I love it when everything is clean. It's shocking how dusty you realize surfaces are when you do serious cleaning. You are so good at switching up colors with your pillows and accessories. That's admirable.

  27. It's such a good feeling to know everything is sparkling clean and polished to perfection! I am ready for some changes...I need some bright colors. I have a lot of pastel furniture and wonder how I can do that. You have a lot of earth tones. How do we add color?

    XO,
    Jane
