My New $15 Frenchy Chair

Sometimes I find the most fabulous things at Goodwill, and then sometimes there is nothing.  I found an absolute treasure this week.  A fabulous Frenchy Chair.

Needs to be reupholstered, but look at the fabulous detail on the frame of the chair and legs.  Gorgeous.

The flower design on the top is so pretty too, and all of the cain is intact, no holes.

Nice carving detail on the arms.  The upholstery on the cushion isn't really bad, but  the arms really  need to be redone.

Yep, you read that right - $19.99 -25% off = $15.  Love, love, love that, and love the flowers on the legs too.

Until I have a chance to get started on it, the color is totally perfect in my bedroom.  See how my pillows match the chair upholstery color.  Perfect.  Too bad it needs to be covered so badly.

I have been itching to find a chair that I could learn how to upholster on, so this is perfect.  Can't wait to get started on it.Now I need to find some really fabulous fabric and get a new piece of foam.  I think this will wind up in the living room and maybe a chair from there will wind up here.  Just have to wait and see.   Have you found any treasures lately?

As you read this I am on the road to Oregon with my son.  A little vacation, visiting old friends and helping him paint his house.  I will try to stay in tune with my Ipad.  Not real good at posting with it, but I have a few things scheduled for while I am gone.  Hopefully I can read all of your posts and at least leave a comment, plus maybe this will make me finally learn how to use it.   Inspire Me Tuesday is scheduled to post Monday evening, so be sure to link up, there is always so much inspiration.

(yes, I changed my profile picture back to the one I had there, it's the one that truly looks like me, so best that you would be able to recognize me at the mall, lol)

  5. Congratulations Marty........... you really did score on that chair, I absolutely love that style of chair, I think they are just so pretty. Can't wait to see what you do with it. It is too bad the arms need help, cause the rest of it really looks pretty good, and nice it matches, so you can sort of take your time if need be.
Can't believe you only paid $15.00 for that, cause even the frame would be worth more than that.
What a blessing. Enjoy your trip and don't work too hard.

    Blessings hon,
    Nellie

  12. To have found something like that in GW, what?!? And that the caining was in good shape as well. It looks as though the bargain-hunting muses were working over-time for you. Congratulations on a spectacular purchase. I have, on accession found a good deal or two myself, and those pieces have become focal points in my home. What always perplexes me is that these things are so ill-valued by their previous owners and are just discarded! Their loss is our gain. I feel glad for the little chair, that it found an owner that will cherish it! So good for both of you!

  29. Hope you are having a wonderful time visiting your son. I bet you're enjoying some cooler weather there too. That chair you found is so pretty. I'm amazed at the great deal you got it for! I love cane on a chair. I have one myself that came from an antique store. I got it for a song because the cane was damaged. I fixed it and repainted it. I now use it in my sitting room but it has been all over the house. Those extra side chairs are so versatile!! I look forward to seeing what you do with yours.

  30. Wow Marty! What a find and a steal! It is so hard to find cain chairs that do not require some sort of repair and that is a pricey fix! This will be lovely with a little upholstery work. I can't wait to see it!
