Something New In The Kitchen

Wow, are you like me, whenever you get one thing new, then that creates a domino effect and things get changed all over.  I found this cute little pitcher and it is the perfect thing for my whisks and wooden spoons that I use the most.  Well that meant I needed more room for all my "stuff" so I got out my marble tray to hold everything.

Perfect, plenty of room for my oils, sale and pepper grinders and the whisks.  I do use these things daily so I love having it all handy.  I had been using my Butter Slab, but it was just not big enough to hold everything, so I need to find it a new home.

While I was looking around for a place for the butter slab, I took a look at the "forgotten" wall in the kitchen.  You know the one we all have.  It is really a work horse with the pantry, fridge and the coffee station, but not the one that I think about updating my vignettes.

Ok, this space should be pretty too, so I rearranged a few things.

Some roosters, a coffee grinder and a biscuit tin holding a few antique grocery tins.

My oolong tea tin is a favorite, I love this piece, so it stayed.

On top of the fridge I put the butter slab with my little farm couple and my rooster planter.

I really like the farm animal plates in the plate hanger, so they stayed.

One of my favorite treasures is the old malt machine.  This came out of the soda fountain that my folks owned when I was around 9 or 10 years old.  My kids grew up with it making tons of treats, then my grandkids and now my great-grandkids think this is the neatest thing ever.

Ok, now this wall looks pretty too.  It's not "forgotten" anymore.

Plus, I really am using the new little pitcher holding the whisks.

So does something new create a domino effect in your house too?

  1. I love your kitchen vignettes, Marty! The cream pitcher looks fabulous holding your utensils. I also love the butter slab on top of the fridge. What a fabulous treasure you have in the Hamilton Beach malt mixer. I know your family will continue to enjoy it for years to come.

  11. Very pretty, Marty! Yes, I think that happens with me, too. It's usually always a good thing because it gets me out of a decorating rut! Love your marble tray. I use a small marble cheese dish that I was inspired to use by you! I should take a picture of it one day and share. I use that to hold my oils and a dipping oil bottle that hubby likes. It is the perfect size and smaller than the tray I was originally using. Much better all around!

Now I need something like your pitcher since hubby hit one of those kitchen stores when we went to the outlets. He bought a package of different wooden spoons. I think they would look nice out and placed by the stove. So, I'll be on the look-out for something.

  14. Marty, it's fun to see your vignettes and makes me wish for some counter space to create some in our kitchen. Sadly, there is such limited counter space that vignettes aren't allowed. '-)

  21. Marty, you just gave me an idea for a small pitcher I just bought at our local Goodwill store and just put with my other seasonal things. It is too small for my larger utensils, but it will be perfect for the small ones since they disappear in the larger utensil holder. I bought it because I thought it was sooo cute and now I will definitely use it. My use of these holders is not because I use them all the time (I do use them) but I don't have a lot of drawer space so it need something to hold the ones that are used more by me and my hubby! Thanks for showing us some more terrific decorating ideas!

  22. LOL -- It sure does! My husband says that if I bring a candlestick into the house from Goodwill, he'll soon be moving furniture around! That's part of the fun. I'm going to corral my kitchen stuff on a tray after seeing this post! Gorgeous!!
