Eating Light & Lean - 160 Calories

I gained a few pounds these past two years and I need to get them off.  I love salads, but I have to admit that I am beginning to feel a little like a rabbit.  I wanted a sandwich, but how to have a healthy one and low on calories too.

Well can you believe this is a 160 calorie lunch and I get to have a sandwich.

I shop at Fry's (Kroger) so everything I have here came from there.  These sandwich slims taste fabulous and are only 90 calories, plus they are super, super filling.

I add a little mustard, 0 calories and some tomato slices, 0 calories - --

I'm sure you've all seen the commercials from Sargento.  Well the ultra thins still taste like a slice of cheese and only 40 calories.  The taste without the calories, that is my kind of deal.

I also love turkey and ham, so I picked up some of both.

As you can see it says that a serving is 2 slices at 60 calories.  That means one slice is 30 calories and these are huge slices, so you can fold it in half on your sandwich and really feel like you have a ton of meat.

The ham is the same.  2 slices = 70 calories, so 1 slice is 35.  Gotta love that.

I added some watermelon = 0 calories and yet so filling.  This is a really nice lunch and it more than satisfies my hunger and my desire for a meat and cheese sandwich.

I love that I can have a really nice lunch and it is only 160 calories.  So if you are in the mood to cut back a little, you might want to give this a try.  This is part of my new diet and I don't feel like I am dieting at all.

  2. Ooh, I haven't seen these! I like the idea of a sandwich, too - seems so satisfying. Have you tried the bagels like this? They are also delicious. Great post. Wishing you success on losing the unwanted pounds. Jane

  3. I love the thin bagels too! I toast them in the morning so they are very crispy and then spread some peanut butter on very thinly. The protein from the pb helps fill me up. :)

  4. This sounds like a tasty change! I'm addicted to watermelon too. I became very allergic to cantaloupe--I kept saying No!!! For a few years--because a half of one is so low cal and filling--I'm signing up for the contest for the books. I have books to read from my birthday too! The Cheney Duvall MD series from my daughter. As a preteen to teen we'd check them out at the library. I got my entire set from her. I've got some reading to do!!! Thank you for the chance to win new books!!!

I had to laugh at how different our two posts were. Me raving over homemade rolls and you telling us how to stay slim. :) Now..you tell me...who's the smart one!! :) NOT to mention healthier?

  14. I love those Slims, Marty. Great taste and filling. Your sammy looks so good...but I'd substitute a peach for that melon. Never acquired a taste for any type of melon...for some odd reason. lol

  23. I lobe those rounds, too, Marty, for both my hubby and myself. I buy the 100% whole wheat ones, even more filling and better for you concerning fiber content.
