From Fall To Winter To Spring With 2 Simple Changes

As you all know, I love changing up my decor and especially for the changing seasons.  However, I am not into totally re-inventing the wheel, just a few accessory changes and I think you can have a whole new look and feel to a room.  My family room is the room we spend the most time in, so it is the room I change up and play in the most.  When you spend a lot of time in one room I think it is easy to get tired of the look and want a change.

This room got a complete makeover the first of last year.  Neutral all the way for the background.  Cream colored walls, and soft beige colored roman shades and drapes give me the neutral background that allows me to keep things neutral or spice it up with color.

For Fall I kept everything in the brown tones.

Different patterns and textures of brown.  The tray vignette was really simple with just some green ivy, orbs and a concrete sphere.

For winter I did a little purging and editing of the room's end tables, but basically the room stayed the same.  I brought in a change of pillows and a new coffee table vignette.  Still a simple white tray vignette with ivy and brown candles.

The pillows were shades of black and beige.  By mixing patterns and adding a little whimsy with the "hello" pillow, it still had character.

For spring I removed the leopard pillow and changed up the vignette on the coffee table again.

I found this woven straw pillow cover that I thought was fun and added a different texture.

The white tray was swapped out for a straw basket and a  simple vignette of ivy and candles.  A few sunflowers for fun.

Making just a few changes can transform any room with the seasons.  What's your favorite way to make a change?

Be sure to get all of your projects lined up for Inspire Me Tuesday.  Party goes live Monday afternoon at 3 PM CMT.  Can't wait to see you there.

  3. Yes, I'm into changing for spring a wee bit; not a drastic big change, cause I don't have that great patience and not lots of spring stuff either. That's why I love your vignette and Love pillow. You have inspired me too.

  4. Marty your changes are beautiful. I love how you do not over do your accessories.Your vignettes are strategically placed in just the right spot. You have such class in how you decorate. I love the cow...........I have a cow and have limited him to just the kitchen area. He may be moved to the sun room, after seeing your cow vignette.

  9. Beautiful! I love the neutral background and that you have shown how changing only a few items can change the whole look of a room. The new pillow is spectacular. Enjoyed my visit with you today.

  10. Small changes really can make a difference! I love that textured pillow, Marty! So far I haven't changed around too many things but I did just order a new duvet cover from Pottery Barn! So excited but it won't be shipped for a couple more weeks. Oh well, it will give me time to plan what else I am going to change in my bedroom...because we all know - once you get started... Enjoy your day!
