Our temps have been totally out of control. We reached 118 last week and that's is definitely hot even for the desert. With the air running at full speed, it just seems cooler if their is a little breeze. So out to the stash and hunt up a prized treasure.
This is my computer area in the breakfastroom. I love this spot since I can see the kitchen, familyroom, outside and watch tv all at the same time. However I needed some breeze in this corner.
This is the fan that use to be in my room when I was a little girl. A 1940 Emerson Electric oscillating - 3 speed fan. Pretty fancy for it's day. I love this piece and it works beautifully.
Don't you just love the slide switch from low - medium - to high.
Now I have plenty of air in my little corner. Love it.

Thanks so much for stopping by, I always look forward to your visits.
Very cool fan! How amazing that it's yours from childhood!
ReplyDeleteI have an old antique Westinghouse fan, but I don't know what year it was made. I know it's brass and weighs about a ton!
How wonderful you still have the fan from your childhood! Love old fans....now watch your fingers!!
ReplyDeleteSuch a wonderful fan to add just the right detail and air to your work area. My husband just brought a similar one home and I hope to get it cleaned up and put to use! Thanks for your kind comments. Dianne
ReplyDeleteI love it! My mother-in-law had one that I wanted, but she got rid of it because it wasn't safe. I wasn't going to use it, just decorate with it. So glad no one got rid of yours.
ReplyDeleteLOVE your fan! Stay cool....IF you can!
ReplyDeleteI live in the far west valley and it was 122 on my back porch the day Phoenix hit 118. I was born in AZ and I have never got use to the heat. Every summer I want to become a snow bird.
ReplyDeleteI love your old fan. I used to have one like it but I gave it away when my boys were little. I was afraid they would hurt their fingers in the blades.
Now I covet your old fan! That is a problem I have with blogging...I want too many things!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing!
Marty it is a true treasure how wonderful that you saved it. So many designers would love a piece like that in a room. It is perfect for you computer corner, Kathysue
ReplyDeleteThat is so awesome that it is your original fan from childhood! Very cozy blog spot.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great spot to visit blogs. That is a lovely fan, certainly not old, just lots of character ;)
ReplyDeleteMarty what a great fan!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great old fan that is Marty!
ReplyDelete118, oh my! I love your childhood fan! glad it's helping you keep cool.
ReplyDeleteI just love your olden fan Marty!
ReplyDeleteHow cool that you still have it and that it works!
What a treasure, I wish I could find one just like it!
Hope to see you before too long and that the heat goes down a bit.
Hugs friend,
Cindy
I can't imagine the heat you're having in AZ, Marty. A bit hot, but at least you are missing our humidity! Love the old fan saved from your childhood. I look for them, but the ones I like (and work) are big bucks. Stay cool! :-) Sue
ReplyDeleteWhat a treasure that you still have that fan! I love it and I agree that a breeze really helps. I don't know how you are standing that heat. Heat isn't really my friend anymore. I'd love to live somewhere that it was about 75 degrees all year long!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great fan! And it actually works and looks great while doing it. You are one very lucky lady. Enjoy the breezes:)
ReplyDeleteLove your cool vintage fan Marty!
ReplyDeleteHI Marty-
ReplyDeletePays to keep some things. What a great looking fan and the fact that you had it when you were a child make it all the more special. It is truly a classic and looks great on your area. I hope the temps drop for you soon. 118 sounds way too hot!!!
My best- Diane
Hi Marty~
ReplyDeleteFabulous fan! How lucky you still have it. So perfect for moving a little breeze around in this heat.
Hi Marty! That's the cutest little fan! Oh, it's Wednesday morning and I've seen on the news about the humungous dust storm in Phoenix. Are you okay? Did it affect you? Prayers coming your way.
ReplyDeleteBe a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
Marty, your fan is wonderful and looks in great condition! I too need a fan close by me to circulate air, but mine is a big old bulky thing. I would love to find one like yours.
ReplyDeleteLoving the lil' fan Marty! It is HOT here with temps between 100 and 105. Not 118 though! Hope you can stay cool!
ReplyDeleteLove the antique fan, Marty. I am sure it is very helpful with the heat too....Christine
ReplyDeleteHi Marty, I love your fan it has such style.
ReplyDeleteLove the fan, so charming! I read about the heat wave y'all experiencing and suddenly our 101 temps didn't seem so bad :) Have a great day.
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness Marty! That fan looks so perfect in your house & it's functional to boot. Amazing.
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute fan. Hope you steered clear of the sand storm yesterday. Looked pretty bad.
ReplyDeleteHow cool (no pun intended!) that you have from your childhood to display in your home!
ReplyDeleteHi Marty, I love the vintage fan and my husband has a similar one in his office. Thanks for sharing this one from your childhood at my party.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Sherry
I love your fan. I have bought and sold for 20 something years. However I have yet to buy a fan. I don't know why. When I like all things metal and industrial.
ReplyDeleteLisa
Hi Marty...
ReplyDeleteOhhh my gosh, your vintage fan is sooo awesome, my friend! And...the fact that you still have this sweet fan from your childhood makes it that much sweeter! Isn't it funny how these vintage fans have become popular again? Now they are making reproductions! They really do look cool though...guess that is why they are so popular!
Well dear friend, it looks like you are set to enjoy the cool air even though your temps are terribly hot! I can't even fathom what 117 degrees feels like...eeeeks! Take care...
Love ya,
Chari
I love this fan, Marty! What a special treasure :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for always being so encouraging and such a wonderful blog friend to so many of us!!
You are one loved lady, I can tell :)

I love your vintage fan, Marty, and the fact that you've had it since you were little. I've been looking for one for our front porch. I want a vintage one and not a reproduction. I would love to find one like yours.
ReplyDeleteLove your fan and the story behind it. Makes it even more special that it was once yours. Can't believe you didn't already have that out!! :)
ReplyDeleteMarty I truely love your fan. How wonderful that you have such lovely memories connected to it.
ReplyDeleteLooks very beautiful the antique pieces...they can be the center of attraction of the room in fact.Because they are so novel and they are not commonly available.Ready to Assemble Cabinets Ventura
