Antique Butter Churn

Well it seems like the guest bedroom is becoming the keeper of the antiques whether they belong in a bedroom or not.  I am still going through everything in the garage and either finding a home for it or giving it away.  One of the things that I needed a home for is my Antique Butter Churn.

Such a great piece.  I have had a place for all these antiques in all my other homes, but this one being so small, they just don’t have a rightful place in the kitchen area, so they are all winding up in the guest bedroom.

The old fan was in my parents house.  I remember that being on top of the TV for years. We didn’t have A/C and this helped keep us cool.

You turned the crank and it turned the big wood paddles inside to make butter.  This would make a lot.

My elephant piggy bank from when I was little.  I use to take my money and insert a coin in the trunk, mash the tail and it threw the money inside.  I loved playing with it.

I hung an old picture that I’ve had for years above the churn.  It shows an old man shucking corn and the little girl has her hat full of either onions or potatoes.  Such a tranquil scene of long ago times.

Since I added the butter churn, I now have a complete kitchen in here, everything except a stove.
This is an old antique kitchen work table that I am using as a night stand.  The leaves fold up providing a huge work surface.  There’s a pull out cutting board, a drawer for utensils and the curved tin bins are divided for wheat and white/corn flour.

The drawer pulls are so interesting, they look like buckles.

The Hoosier on the other side of the bed is a complete kitchen by itself.  Tons of storage.

Behind the larger doors, you see the flour sifter, bean bin and even more storage.

I added some of my husband’s ribbons to go with my equestrian theme and also added a couple of needlework pieces that I did years ago.

George and Martha fit this corner really well.

The last piece that will fit in here is an Antique Lawyer’s Bookcase.  It fits nicely on the wall across from the foot of the bed.  Still have to put it in place, clean the glass and replace the pegs in the bottom door. This piece is about 5 ft. tall, so it has a ton of storage.  Then I can unpack more boxes and fill it up.  I am on a mission to find a home for everything or get rid of it.
