I thought it was time to look at my fall wardrobe and figure out what I needed to add or subtract. A lot of things went to GW , so it was time to add a few new things.
I have been looking for a new handbag and this time I wanted something sort of fun for everyday. Maybe a bright color. I kept thinking yellow or lime green all summer long, but when I saw this one by Michael Kors, it was definitely the one that caught my eye. Perfect size for everyday and there are a lot of pockets inside so I have a place for everything. I LOVE that. Fun orange , looks like fall. I have a great black bag, so this finishes off my everyday needs. With this being quite a splurge, I needed to just look at the basics and some sales for the rest of my updates.
I have quite a few brown, tan and chocolate pieces that I can spruce up with some fun jewelry or a scarf, but my navy was looking a little worn and I can always use black.
This is what I came home with. 4 new pieces that will get a lot of use.
A basic navy tee, on sale for $4.99. I will wear that constantly and every year you need a nice new fresh one so it doesn't look faded and tacky. Love this jean jacket. The darts make it sort of fitted, not boxy, so it is really flattering on. Perfect for our fall and winter temps. A great white shirt, cute loafers and dark jeans and this will take me anywhere. I think if I pair it with the new navy tee, slacks or jeans and a really cute scarf, it will be fabulous too. On Sale for $12.99. I think a jean jacket can be worn over just about anything.
This is such a pretty silk blouse and I will wear it as a light jacket. It will be perfect when you just need something really light. Love the stripes and the sleeves roll up and button, so it can go casual with white jeans too. Great find at Ross for $11.99. Can' you see this with a bright red, yellow or green tee underneath and some white or black slacks. Stunning.
I like this top because the embroidery detail is beige, not white. Perfect to wear with my beige slacks and khakis. Cute fit too and this neckline is so flattering on everyone. I can also pair this with black slacks and a beige cashmere sweater that I have. Another Ross find for $8.99
That's it for my fall updates so far. I do need a new pair of Tennis Shoes, so I will look for those soon.
Have you been updating yours?
I am joining:
Out and about for a few days getaway. See you all on Monday for Table Top Tuesday.
I love these kind of posts! so fun and informative to see what others are wearing and why they have certain basics. I love a good jean jacket, so versatile!
ReplyDeleteGreat pieces and I really love the MK bag. I have been refreshening my wardrobe for fall too -- have gotten many great pieces at our local GW store -- also got 2 Gucci bags -- one chocolate colored hobo bag and another dark red bag -- both were $25.00 (together) -- I felt like I won the lottery or something, lol.
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend!
Blessings!
Gail

Really cute finds Marty! I adore your new purse. :)
ReplyDeleteYou did good! Really like the black one with white trim.I need to go thru clear out and replenish my wardrobe, but it is a job I don't enjoy. Was in TarZay yesterday and got 3 simple Summer tops on sale for everyday wear. I have really let my wardrobe go, since stopped working.
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend.
I would love a new purse. Other than that I really need to just pull pieces out and put them together with mix and matches that will look great. I have a lot of scarves and jewelry to accessorize.
ReplyDeleteLast Night I went to a fashion show at Her Majesties Closet (a high end designer resale boutique) It was so fun to see the fall fashions. They also brought out some vintage Chanel, Armani, Bill Blass, etc.

Beautiful pieces Marty! Love all of them. Your purse is so fun too! I've only bought new Keds. I do need a couple pairs of pants. I've lost about 30 pounds so I'll get to buy a smaller size. Whoo-hoo!
ReplyDeleteWishing you a fabulous weekend!
Pretty purse Marty and I love your jean jacket! Your right, you can wear one of those with just about anything!
ReplyDeleteThose are some great pieces for your wardrobe. I have been re-thinking mine. I need some basics, like a couple of great pairs of jeans, a pair of black slacks etc....
ReplyDeleteOh my, such pretty finds, wow! I Love all your new pieces for fall, I have a jean jacket like that and boy!...do I use it on top of everything, even skirts, lol..The MK bag is gorgeous, I'd love that right now. You did great Marty!

I love everything, Marty...it's so fun to see how others put together their wardrobes! The jean jacket is fabulous, they are timeless! Love the bag, too!
ReplyDeleteXO,

Looks like you did very well for your shopping trip! Love the bag and all your pretty mix and match tops. So smart how you have already figured out how you will mix these with items you already have in your wardrobe. I have to admit that I envy the comment about wearing the jeans jacket for the winter months. I HATE having to bundle up in a heavy coat, hat, scarf, gloves, snow boots.....just so much to deal with especially if you are in and out of places....I always lose a few items each winter -- one glove hear....a scarf there....a hat who knows where.....
ReplyDeleteWhat cute things...love the purse and all of those attractive tops. Jean jackets are such a classic, I am sure you will be wearing all of these a lot.
ReplyDeleteHi Marty,
ReplyDeleteYou did a great job in finding things to add to your wardrobe. I love your classic looks.
You are not only talented in decorating your home but yourself too! LOL
Hugs,
LaDonna
Love your style, very classic! Cute purse!

ReplyDeleteYou are going to look wonderful this fall. Love that new bag!!
ReplyDeleteGreat choices Marty! And I love your new MK bag ~ very nice!

This post is timely because I need to do the same thing. The autumn season officially starts on September 22nd. We already have signs that Fall is in the air. I already gave a lot of clothes to Goodwill at the end of last winter, so I need to replace some stuff. I need some corduroy pants and winter skirts and dresses.
ReplyDeleteNice finds, Marty! I only bought clothes at the GW for the first time this year. The one here has some nice things and I needed a couple pairs of capri's. Oh, and I bought the jean skirt and two other ruffled skirts that I married together into one ruffled jean skirt. It was a small investment, especially since I wasn't sure how that project would turn out.
ReplyDeleteI was just contemplating doing the same thing so your post was fun to read. Love the purse. I'm rather partial to orange myself. As a Northwesterner, I'm going to enjoy these last few days of warm, sunny days and then I'll see about that fall wardrobe. May have to think about shopping for a new purse though... LOL!
ReplyDeleteAll great finds Marty! Love the purse. I need to start checking my cooler weather wardrobe soon and cull out some things and see what I need to add. I hope you are having a wonderful weekend!
ReplyDeleteGreat new pieces, Marty! Love your purse, very nice! XO ~Liz
ReplyDeleteThat purse is perfection and the embroidered tee is just gorgeous Marty! You have inspired me to clean out my own closet.
ReplyDeleteTell Mr. Stroll that we spent a good portion of yesterday working on the backyard. Today we are working on the watering system. :)
Marty,
ReplyDeleteLove, love, love your new basics!!! Since retiring...I NO longer need Teacher attire or Office attire...so I've been trying to determine WHAT I do need to purchase! I'm not a "jeans" person...but I do adore your jean jacket!!! The top choices are stunning! Especially lovin' the black with the beige trim!!! Thanks for sharing, today!!! You're going to be the "best dressed" in the West!
Fondly,
Pat
Great looking purse! It'll go with so many things and looks like it opens wide enough to "rummage" in.
ReplyDeletehugs,
Babs
Love your purse, Marty! I've been organizing my closet, too. Trying to get ready for the change of seasons!
ReplyDeleteMildred
Great pieces! And I love the handbag! Hope you are having a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteI love the jean jacket! I so need to go through my closet. What a job though. Since I'm not working anymore (I work at home now and can wear my jammies!)I don't think I need anything new. I occasionally hit TJMaxx and can find an inexpensive sweater or fun pair of shoes. I got an orange Michael Kors messenger bag not too long ago on clearance at Macy's. I was so thrilled. :o) Enjoy your Sunday...Ann
ReplyDeleteYou've done what I need to do. My wardrobe definitely needs a little sprucing up!
ReplyDeleteI'm drooling over the MK handbag, I want one so bad, maybe Santa? Also love the jean jacket that isn't so boxy, love the darts in it! I did buy a handbag at TJMaxx last evening a black one for this cold season coming up:)

ReplyDeleteThank you for a great explanation. I was looking online for a similar idea and really appreciate it
