Master Bedroom Makeover

It always amazes me to see how my style and a room evolves.  The Master Bedroom in this house has been one that has taken many changes, but I think I finally have it the way I want.  Thanks to a little paint, fabric and some fabulous Thrift Store finds.

This was the before when we first moved in.   I used all the odds and ends from our previous home since this room was a lot smaller.  Downsizing is always hard, you have to use what will fit and make do.   A simple upholstered headboard, family photos over the bed, antique washstands for nightstands and really simple decor.

A small settee and chair and that was about it.  Not really reflecting my style, just bits and pieces from various rooms from the past.

All the changes started when I found this headboard at Hotel Liquidators for $75.  I knew it would be perfect for my transformation.

Some paint and distressing and this is how it turned out.  I love it.

I brought in a buffet I had in the garage for one side of the bed and added some new accessories.  The buffet was a Goodwill find for $25.  Worked great for a dresser for a while.

Great lamps from Hobby Lobby on sale for $29.99 and a few seafoam and aqua accessories for DH side.

Paintings that were previously in the hall got moved in here and some new candles and a fern added to my side.  Shopping the house can change up things for a whole new look.

This was the look for a while, better but still not great.

Then I found this nightstand at Goodwill for $12.99 and refinished the top.

This is exactly what I was looking for, now to find a dresser.

A couple of months later I found this beauty at a used furn. store for $69.99 and refinished it to match the nightstand.  I love this piece, and the storage is fabulous.  Gorgeous detail on the old hardware.

Now it was looking like my vision.  I really like the new pieces and it reflects a much more elegant and put together style.

This side of the room across from the foot of the bed had an armoire and chair from our previous home.  The armoire holds the tv and has great storage.

I found a fabulous $15 French style chair at Goodwill that helped add the finishing touches to the bedroom.  I replaced the upholstery on the arms and gave the wood a wipe down with walnut stain to refresh it and it looks like a million dollars.

Here we are a couple of years later with some new bedding and drapes, but all the furniture has stayed the same.  The drapes are Ikea that I added ribbon trim to and I also made the matching pillow shams from a sheet and ribbon trim.

Shop for classic pieces that will stand the test of time and you’ll have a space you will love for years.

I am so enjoying this room and it definitely reflects my style today.
