As Easy as Swapping Lamps

Sometimes a design delima is so simple you just have to shake your head and say "DUH".  I have a fabulous little gateleg table that I use as an end table in the familyroom, however I always find the half round shape hard to put a vignette on and then there was the rooster lamp that I had there for years and that always confused me.  Did it have to be a rooster vignette?

All I needed to do was swap lamps and now I can think of a dozen ways to create a vignette.  A simple candlestick lamp that was on the opposite table got switched with the rooster lamp.  It has a smaller base and I don't feel like I have to have something to coordinate with a rooster.

See how simple this is with the candlestick lamp, I love this change.

The rooster lamp works just fine on this smaller end table.  A small urn and dish completes the vignette.

Just a 10 minute "duh" moment and so much better.

Sometimes we get so use to seeing something in one place we can't visualize it anywhere else.

Don't forget, spread the work about our Cloche Party on May 22nd.  Get all of your cloches ready for a super fun party and let's show them off.

  5. Love the change and that dog figure is just the cutest... love him!!!!

  6. You know, Marty- I think we all share those dilemmas now and least for me it is almost always the simple things that stump us.

I had a friend over for tea yesterday and showed her a recently redecorated guest room, which was nearly perfectly done (except for some white wall plates that are eluding me at the moment.)

I told her what a deal I got on the window treatments at her church's garage sale recently, and how it was my inspiration for redoing the entire room.........and she looks at the sweet little curtains and said "Why don't you switch them around to feature the lace better?" I told her that was brilliant and right then and there made the change.

That was definately my latest "DUH" moment. And it made a big difference.

    Have a great weekend. Hugs.

  7. Hi Marty,
I'm so glad you came over for a visit, I will try to remember to join your cloche party.
Your dilemna is one that I have had frequently. We do get so used to seeing something that we can't visualize it any other way. I really love your gateleg table and your vignette is very nice, especially with the adorable little spaniel.
    Hugs, Cindyt

  8. Marty, I would use to never change anything out or move it to a different place. But I get so bored with how things look so fast anymore. I am constantly changing something.
Your rooster lamp looks great on that little table. So warm and inviting.

  9. I really love changing things around in my house too! :-) stopping by from classyclutter's party! Ingrid

  10. The change is perfect! You always do the best vignettes. I do love that rooster lamp! XO, Pinky

  11. Oh so pretty Marty! And you are so very right - a little change is all that's needed sometimes. I am always inspired when I see what you have been up to! Jane

  12. Marty, I think both vignettes look terrific. It's fun to move things around from time to time. I just returned home from a trip to Dallas and a new lamp came with me. Can't wait to find it a new spot here.

  13. Very nice Marty! Makes me wanna do some switching around here!

  17. Lamps are meant to be moved:}

  18. You are so right! Sometimes it's best to get a fresh set of eyes to see your space too. I like the lamp swap you did. Now the little dog figurine matches the dog pics hanging above it!

  19. I love small changes, they make such a difference, plus a fresh look as well. I like just what you did and I love the dog figurine and of course, the art work above it. Have a lovely week, Marty.

  20. I love candlestick lamps. They are a great decorating accessory.

  23. I adore your chicken lamp!!! What a great reminder to look at things we have in fresh ways. I've been doing almost the same thing this weekend. We had the family room and kitchen painted and while I was putting everything back I was trying to find better places to put them!
Marty, no one can put a vignette together like you!

  24. Small changes can make a big impact. I adore the rooster lamp. Your vignettes are always a pleasure to see. I will look out for your cloche party.

  26. Pretty vignette, Marty! Sometimes it's just the little changes :)
