Christmas Inspiration Past & Present

Like the rest of you, I am knee deep in Thanksgiving and planning for Christmas.  I think I have my ideas nailed down, but I haven't started putting things together yet.  I am hosting Thanksgiving and have 14 coming, so my main goal at the moment is planning for this fun get-together and meal.

However, the ideas are swirling in my head for Christmas.

This year I will have a few new things and some old things again, so I thought I would share a bit of last years Christmas.

I still love my glitzy deer so I am sure they will be making an appearance again this year.  (They might get a few new trimmings)  The sequined deer are from AtHome and the wreaths were $1.99 from Walmart.  The trimmings are from the Dollar Tree.

I love a thrifty project.

I'm still crazy about silver and bottle brush trees too, so they will probably make an appearance somewhere.

My cherished Nativity will definitely have a place of honor again.

Of course I will have a ton of sparkle everywhere with my diy polka dot ornaments -

and my diy leopard ones too.  (You can see my tutorial here.)

And there will certainly be a bit of whimsy thrown in for fun.

This year I'm mixing it up with some fur, plaid and cable knit in the family room

and some malachite, gold, silver and sparkle for the living room.

I have a few new things for outside too, so I can't wait to start playing.

Be sure to get all of your projects lined up for Inspire Me Tuesday.  Party goes live Monday afternoon at 3 PM CMT.  Can't wait to see you there.

  1. I'm more of a traditionalist when it comes to Christmas decorating, but I think you totally rock the glitz and glam with your beautiful pillows and fun throws! Those throws should feel especially good over the next few days, if we can count on what the "weather-guessers" are saying!

  2. I can't wait! Your home is always such an inspiration to me.

  3. You're the queen of elegant bling!

  4. Your painted ornaments are cute - like all the glitz!!

  5. It is fun finding new ways to use items already on hand, especially seasonal decor which is too costly to replace each year.
Thanks so much for sharing at AMAZE ME MONDAY!

  6. fun stuff here, I can't revamp everything---have to have some of it the same...someplace every year. Love the pillows...i hunted high and low for the fabric to cover the furniture on the front porch...inexpensively---I think I have solved that problem...grins and onto Thanksgiving and only planning for Christmas---is a GOOD THING!..Sandi

  7. What a riot of gorgeousness. The glitzy ornaments were beautiful and I really like how you put together different textures that work so well. I love your malachite pillow. I saw your link at Cindy's Amaze Me Monday link party.

  10. Hi Marty. You are so good about changing things up. Christmas decorations for us are so traditional and I'm excited to unwrap them every year. I do try to put things in different places but I bet if you went back through my blog you'd see the same things year after year. :)

  11. Marty! I haven't blogged forever, but saw your name on another post and had to pop by... LOVE your Christmas decor, especially the deer. I'm going to have to give the hand-painted ornies a whirl, they are fantastic. Hope all is well...

I like the glitzy deer- there's still lots of things new this year related to deer so I'd definitely keep yours around!
