Winter White & Gray Decor

If you are like me you are probably on color and pattern overload from Christmas.  I love all the reds, plaids and bright lights of Christmas, but once it is over I need calm and serene for a while. After Christmas, a calm and serene living room seems perfect. Winter White & Gray decor creates the serene mood I am looking for.  I can’t really do an all-white room either, that just seems too stark for me, so just a touch of some kind of color.   We don’t have winter here in the desert, but this year we did have rain the whole week of Christmas.  So if the skies were going to be gray, then I just brought that color inside too.

Today I am honored to be joining a group of ladies sharing their Cozy Winter Home Tour.  Thanks to Amber @ Follow The Yellow Brick Home for organizing this fun tour.  If you are here from Amber’s home I am sure you enjoyed her tour as much as I always do.  She has such a knack of making her vintage home and antiques look so up to date and fresh. Be sure to see the full line up at the bottom of the post, I know you will not want to miss a single tour.

The rain finally stopped and I was able to get all the Christmas taken down, then the sun began to shine again.  I love the light that comes into this room.  It always makes this space seem happy.

I used a mix of white and gray pillows and one eye-catching throw.

This throw always gives me a smile.  Several years ago I found a really pretty gray fox fur throw at Home Goods.  I told hubby that is what I wanted for Christmas.  Now the fact that he even went to Home Goods is amazing, but then I guess he wasn’t sure what a fox fur throw should look like, so he bought this one.  This is not even a fur, but a fun faux something.  It’s really a mod piece that always makes me grin.  He was so proud of himself, I didn’t have the heart to tell him it wasn’t the right thing.  Now I think it was the most perfect mistake, it is so fun and interesting.

I kept the coffee table accessories really simple too.

The adjoining dining area got a new table setting.  Again keeping things gray, white and simple.

Two natural wood candlesticks and a simple bouquet in a gray bowl.

My Winter White & Gray decor is exactly what I needed for now.

I love that this room is so neutral that I can change things up on a whim.  Almost any color or variation works in this space.  To see some of the room designs & colors from the past, check out this post

Be sure to check out all the others on the tour listed below.  Next up is Debra @ Common Ground.  I know you are going to love how she has transformed her new home into such a warm and inviting place.

I feel the same way about needed a break from color this time of year. Your home looks beautiful, Marty and I am impressed that your husband shopped at Homegoods. I’m sure my husband is afraid of that store! Love the texture of the throw he bought…even if it was the wrong one. Great hopping with you today!

Isn’t funny Marty, almost all of us mentioned color or clutter overload from Christmas.

This is such a gorgeous space, Marty. Your husband is such a sweetie, he did a great job, and I can see why he might have gone with this version of a gray fox! Just noticed the amazing wood grain in your dining room table. so pretty! You always set such wonderful glam tablescapes!

Marty, that story about your husband buying the throw is just precious! He did a good job, even if it wasn’t what you initially had in mind! It looks great in your living room, as does everything else. I really like the touches of grey so it’s not all stark white, as you said. So happy to be hopping with you again!

I adore all of your winter touches. Gray and white are just perfect. I couldn’t help but notice that fabulous fluffy throw blanket on your couch. LOVE!!

Marty, I got a nice giggle after reading about the unintended Christmas gift from your hubby! A most happy “mistake”! Two years ago, I received a large, decorative crate loaded with all kinds of crafting supplies from my adult sons. It also included a generous gift card from Michaels to continue to fuel my crafting passion and then new blog. But, the best part was picturing my two boys shopping in Michaels with a cart and carefully picking out all that wonderful stuff.
