An Accident & A Yard Mess

Most people think of the desert and all they think of is Cactus.  Yes, we have a lot of that here but so many beautiful blooming trees and plants too.

This is the Palo Brea tree in our front yard.  Now it is green most of the year and provides fabulous shade, but after losing its leaves it puts on a flower show that is unreal.

The entrance to our subdivision is lined with these trees and it is such a magical view as you enter the area.   The main downside to this tree is the mess when all those flowers drop.  This is my front yard and what it’s done to my new neighbor’s yard too.  (They just moved in a couple of months ago, not sure they appreciate my tree.

The gorgeous flowers blow off in the wind and as you can see, turn everything yellow.  This is such a mess, but until it quits blooming, it’s really useless to clean them all up.    Here is what the yard and tree usually look like, just plain green tree.  I do think the flowers and the bright yellow tree are gorgeous, just hate the mess it makes.

While this is a mess, around the pool things are blooming like crazy.  The water has warmed up for swimming too, so summer fun is on.

On the other home front, I have been working in the yard and I think I overdid it a bit.  I sprained my wrist, so I have been put on the sidelines for a while.  Thank goodness I didn’t break it, just screwed up a few tendons and ligaments.  Should be better in a couple of weeks.  Thank goodness it is my left hand, typing is hard enough as it is, but if it had been the right hand I would be seriously handicapped.

On a happy note, mark your calendars for May 3rd thru 5th.  Some of your favorite bloggers are sharing their Inviting Summer Bedrooms.  Three days full of beautiful bedrooms and inspiration.

Aww take it easy girl! Although I know, for us makers, it is hard to stay still. I hope your wrist heals fast cause it’s a challenge doing stuff single handed. And hey, that tree is gorgeous, I wouldn’t mind the mess, it’s just for a few days!

So sorry about your hand. At least you expect a speedy recovery. That tree in bloom is gorgeous. Our flowering crab is in full bloom, which means tiny white petals everywhere. I sympathize.

We have the same tree here in Palm Springs, but it is called Palo Verde, not Palo Brea. It is beautiful with its bark-free green trunk and yellow flowers. We also have many Mesquite trees too. Never a good tree to have near your pool, though.

That tree is beautiful and worth the mess. I recognize that brace. I have one just like it.
    Get better soon.
