Guest Bedroom – New Bed & Bedding Fail

Guest Bedroom – New Bed & Bedding Fail.  Sometimes you do one thing and it turns out great, then you start adding to it and it turns out not so good.  That’s what happened with my new bedding.  Let me explain.  We’ve had a full-size bed in our guest bedroom and that was fine since most of our guests have been one person at a time.  However on the rare occasion, we had a couple, that was really cozy sleeping.   So, I wanted to make some changes.  The new queen-size mattress is perfect and fits well in this small room.  The new mattress also worked well with the DIY Headboard that I already had.  The problem comes in with my new bedding.

Here is what we’ve had previously.  I love this pink and the great comforter.  Guest Bedroom Christmas.

Then I switched things out for early summer this year, I used my camel quilt and shams.  Problem is, this is a king-size, so it is really too big, but I love the colors.

The fabulous new Queen Size mattress will be more comfortable for everyone.  So glad to have the upgrade, I just need to get the bedding right.

I love my white bedding in the master bedroom, so I thought white would be fabulous for this room too.  Now I am having tons of doubts.  The taupe headboard and off-white dust ruffle really don’t work with white.

Everything just seems off with white.

The orange and white with straw always works, just not in this room.  I even tried blue, green, and brown.  Brown looked the best, but none of it worked.

So back to the drawing board.  I think I need something off-white or maybe even a light camel color.  Nothing lost, my daughter can use this white quilt and shams in one of her guest bedrooms, so that will be fine.  Ok, back to shopping.

For now, I am back to the gray quilt until I find something new.  I might even look for a soft aqua color, what do you think?

I love the camel quilt and pillows. I would just stick with that. I think it is seasonless. Since I downsized, I save space by not changing for seasons.

I would definitely go with a soft aqua! That’s the color my bedroom is painted, and my comforter is cream with a taupe bedskirt. It reminds me of the beach with the colors of water and sand. It’s very soothing! Also, I think aqua would look great with the picture you have in the room.
