Thrifty DIY Ornament – November Pinterest Challenge.

Getting Ready For Christmas is always one of my favorite things to do.  I love decorating the house and doing all kinds of crafts.  Today I am joining a group of friends for the November Pinterest Challenge.  Each month we are given an inspirational photo or project from our hostess Cindy @ Country Road 407.  We are given the challenge of doing our version of recreating a similar project.  For November we don’t have an inspirational image to recreate, we are tasked to create a Christmas Ornament.  Welcome to my version of a Thrifty DIY Ornament  – November Pinterest Challenge.

If you are coming over from The Ponds Farmhouse ,  Welcome.  I am sure you loved her amazing Ornaments as much as I did.

I was looking forward to doing something really special, but then I got Viral Pneumonia and wound up in the hospital.  I just got out a few days ago and didn’t have the energy or time to do something really spectacular.  Then I remembered some previous ornaments that I made a few years ago and still love them.  They don’t have to be fancy or elaborate to be fun and special, so I got out a few things from my craft stash and had some fun creating some new ornaments.

These are the fun”leopard” ornaments I created a few years ago.  I used some white ornaments and a little craft paint and just had fun.

I used some gold paint, a gold paint pin, and a simple black marker.  I just copied the design I found on a leopard pillow I had.  My leopard design is very “fanciful” so if you want to create something just have fun and be playful.

I had a few more white ornaments, so I thought having some plain gold polka dots would be fun.  These are super simple.  Either with a tiny brush or using the paint pin, you can easily make some cute simple dots.

I also had some clear glass ornaments that I found at the $1 store.  I used my trusty gold paint and poured a few drops inside.  My intent was to have it swirl around and create fun swirls.  Well, mine didn’t work out so well.  I think I added too much paint and it was really thick so instead of swirling, it almost covered the whole inside.

Oh well, it’s different, so I am using it anyway.  Time to create a new vignette for the entrance console.

I have quite a few fun decor pumpkins of all kinds.  I think it’s fun to mix them all together.  So I mixed leather, raffia, velvet, beaded, and my fun painted ones altogether.

I used a wooden bowl to hold them.   A few antlers and feathers add to the rustic display.

A bundle of wheat decorated with feathers and tied with a rustic ribbon adds even more rustic elements to the vignette.

Even though my plans didn’t quite work out for something super special, I think this was fun and that’s what counts, right?

Marty, I’m glad to hear you are feeling better! I’ve had pneumonia several times and also during the second bout with Covid… It sure wipes one out. I love what you you’ve created with the leopard ornaments and the others poured inside. We have a few glass ornaments which were made for Mr. Ethereal when he coached soccer when our kids were little, and a couple of others made when he coached pole vaulting. So many ideas to make!!

Enjoy your ornaments and display! Happy Thanksgiving!!
    Big holiday hugs,
    Barb 🙂
