Decorating For Summer

I think we all feel like the world has come to life when summer rolls around.  Bright sunshine, pretty flowers, and warm wonderful long days are just the best.  I love Decorating For Summer.  I love all the warm summer colors and they really do work the best in my home.

I have beige marble tile, medium dark hardwood floors, and carpet with flecks of brown, gray, and cream, so warm tones just fit in.  I also really love soft camels, grays, and cream colors.  When I pick a color scheme for one room, sometimes I like to carry the same colors throughout the whole house.

When I put the living room together with soft camel and gray, that seemed like the perfect combination to carry throughout the whole house.  You can see this whole room here.

Since the family room is next to the living room, of course, I wanted to carry the same colors into that space.  (I think you will notice as you go through this post, that I buy multiples of my favorite throw pillows.  I like to use them again and again all over the house. )

The kitchen and breakfast area are part of the family room area, so they got a little summer decor too.  Still using my favorite camel, gray and white colors.

A bucket full of summer flowers look so welcoming on the breakfast table.

The buck reflects my gray color and the napkins are camel and gray plaid.

I like to continue my decor upstairs too.

The Girl Cave/Office/Loft is always a fun place to decorate.  I spend a ton of time in here, one of my favorite spaces in the house.  Camel colors are perfect in this room too.

The Guest Bedroom gets switched out a lot.  Camel and gray is a soft color scheme I love in here.

The Master Bedroom and Bathroom.  Since I spend so much time here every day, these spaces get switched around a lot.

I did a refresh in the master bathroom the other day that showcased my soft grays, with touches of gold that remind me of camel colors.

The master bedroom is open to the bathroom, so I like for them to complement each other.  My headboard has tones of camel, dark gray, and black in the upholstery, so using camel as the main color is my favorite.  I do have a number of different camel quilts, throw pillows, and throw blankets that I like to use from time to time.

This is a favorite color scheme for Summer.  To me, this just looks so fresh and inviting.  I love the all-white with the camel quilt at the foot of the bed.

This simple combination of pillows adds just a touch of color to the bed for another all white look.   When it is really hot, a quilt at the foot of the bed seems like too much.

In the late spring or early summer, the camel quilt is perfect.  It adds just enough color to the room. (You’ll notice that the chair was replaced with a leather wingback that I love.  I swap the white and leather chairs in the living room and bedroom from time to time.)

I like that I can switch out a couple of pillows and add a bit of Tiffany blue to the bed.

I found this fun printed quilt the other day at Target, so of course I had to change things up a bit again.

This is a really soft linen lightweight quilt that will be perfect for this summer.  The pattern brightens up the room too.

Woodblock Print Quilt.

Pick a color scheme that you love and spread it around the whole house.  It’s great to walk from room to room and feel like each space is connected in a small way.

That color combination is stunning, Marty! Your new quilt is a great find! And I would have never thought to add Tiffany blue in the mix and it’s gorgeous!

Timeless and classic – your home is always so beautiful, Marty.

Hey – you should link that bedspread from Target – maybe you will get some “hits” from it. I really love how it looks in that room.

    Big hugs. ♥
