Easy Holiday Appetizers - Won Tons

Time to start thinking about some appetizers for the holidays.  One of my family's all time favorites is Won Tons.  I thought it was time to share my recipe again.   Super easy and such a treat.  You can make these ahead of time, just freeze and cook what you need.

Ingredients

  • l lb ground beef
  • l can diced green chilis
  • 2 c. shredded Jack cheese
  • l pkg. won ton wraps

Instructions

  • Brown meat well then add the can of green chilies, cook together for 1 to 2 minutes.  Add cheese then turn off the heat and stir to melt.  Beat one egg in a small bowl for egg wash and set aside.  Then place a small spoonful of meat mixture in the center of 1 won ton wrapper.  Roll up on pointed end 3/4 of the way, then dip a finger in egg wash and smear on two long sides, fold them together in sort of a bow to seal.  Place on a cookie sheet in the freezer.  After frozen place in freezer bags of about 25 in a single layer until ready to cook.  Fry in a deep pan of hot oil until brown - remember these are small so don't over cook.  Serve immediately with sales or spiced ketchup dip and wait for the raves.

Notes

These freeze really well, so make a lot in advance.  This recipe makes about 75.  I love having something I can cook on a minutes notice when guests arrive.
