Fabulous Easy Apple Pie

I think everyone loves Apple Pie.  They are always a crowd pleaser and a really pretty one definitely steals the show.  This is probably what intimidates everyone, it looks so hard, but it is so easy.

Let’s get busy and make one shall we.  I am making this really simple and using ready made crust.

Peel all the apples _ I used 8 for a 9″ pie.  Then sprinkle 1/2 c. sugar. 1/2 c. brown sugar, 3 tbl, flour and 2 tbl. cinnamon on top and stir to coat all the apples.

Place the 1st piecrust in the pie plate making sure to have plenty to cover the edges.

place half the apples in the shell and dot all over with butter, then add remaining apples.

take the second shell and using a pizza cutter cut into strips about 1/2 inch wide.

I first placed 7 strips over the pie leaving space inbetween each strip.  Now to make the lattice.  Take every other strip and fold it back.  Place a strip across it right down the middle of the pie, the fold the strips back over this center strip.

To add the next strip fold back the next row of strips.

now place another strip on one sice and fold the strips back over it.  You can see the lattice is starting to form.

continue doing the same thing alternating strips on both sides and continuing the lattice design.

all done.  Now we just have to take care of the edges.  Fold the bottom crust over the edges of the lattice strips.

then crimp them in a pretty design.  sprinkle  some sugar over the top and put in the over at 375 degrees.  Bake for approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes or until the filling is nice and bubbly and the crust is perfectly browned.  If the edge crust starts to get too brown, cover it lightly with foil.

Now if this doesn’t steal the show, then there’s a problem.

Now that you know how easy it is to make, let me know how yours turns out.

Love your recipe. All I need to know is how do you crimp the edges?
