A New (Used) Camera – Now The Learning Curve

Neutral Fall Tour – Adding a few Velvet Pumpkins.

Taking great pictures is something we all strive to do.  Well mine have been done with a point and shoot all these years and they are ok, but I have longed to have some of those fabulous shots that I see all over blogland.

I think it is more than time to upgrade and learn a new skill.

You don’t really need a fancy camera, even the newer iPhones take amazing pictures.  I have just wanted to have a DSLR camera for years, and finally decided it was time.  However I didn’t think it was necessary to spend hundreds for a new camera since this is a big learning curve for me.  (baby steps)  Several of you love your older cameras and they do take fabulous pictures.  I was on a strict budget of under $150 when I was shopping.  This one is basically new, most everything still in the original packaging.  Even though it is an older model, it was hardly used, so a great one for me to cut my teeth on.

Meet my new (used) camera.

This is the camera I have been using for years.  I love it for a point and shoot and it really does take pretty good pictures.  It is a Kodak Easyshare V 1073 10 MP digital Camera with 3x Optical Image Stabilized Zoom

I’ve even done a couple of posts on How To Take Better Pictures For Your Blog.

Here are some of my first trials with the new camera.  Still a ton to learn.   I am stalking quite a few blogs that have some amazing tips and tutorials for using the new camera.

This one was shot in Manual mode.

I have been trying to learn the manual mode and also how to get the adjustments set just right for the auto mode.

Here we are in Manual.

This is Auto Mode.

Again in Auto Mode

Manual mode.

This will definitely not be a 10 minute learning curve.  I am sure it will take months to feel comfortable and half way know what I’m doing.  I just need to take tons of pictures and practice, practice, practice.

If you are looking for a new (used) camera.  I got mine on Ebay.  There are so many to choose from and at every price range.  I bid on several before I won this one, so check them out and make a bid, you just might win.

Give me your tips and tricks for learning how to use my new camera, and are there any other accessories I need besides a tripod and a wide angle lens?

If you like Thrifty & Chic on a Budget, I would love to have you follow me.
