2021 Summer Home Tour – Part 2

Welcome to Part 2 of my 2021 Summer Home Tour.  Today I am sharing my Kitchen and Family Room.  This is where we live most of the time, next to the patio and pool.  If we aren’t outside, then inside in this area of the house is next best.  Come on in and look around.

The entire back of our house is family room, kitchen and breakfast area, so of course this is where we are most of the time and where we love to entertain.  As you enter from the living room the kitchen area is on the left.

We began the kitchen remodel the week after moving in.  If you want to see what it looks like before and how we made all the changes, you can check out this post.  Definitely builder basic oak and formica from the 90’s.  I love how it turned out by repurposing some cabinets, adding a few new ones and tons of character on a really tiny budget.

Not a huge kitchen but we have an amazing walk-in pantry that makes up for the size of the kitchen in spades.

Next to the kitchen is our eat-in area.  I love that it’s large enough to hold our farmhouse trestle table, we all love to crowd around this table.

If we turn around to the right, this is the view from the kitchen peninsula.  The family room isn’t huge either, but we make it work.  Being next to the kitchen and the slider to outdoors makes this the favorite place to be.

I love all the light that streams in from all the windows.

If you saw my thrift shopping post, you’ll see where my goodwill end table wound up.  That corner needed something with enough weight to balance out the plants on the other side of the sofa.

I think this $12 table is the perfect find.

My horse painting is the center of attention in this room and I still love it. The cowhide rug gives this area a little character too.

That’s it, a tour of the back of the house.  Thanks so much for stopping by and thanks for the gracious comments on my 2021 Summer Home Tour Pt 1, where I share my living room and dining area.  You guys are the best and you always make my day.

Hi Marty. Your kitchen is gorgeous. When I click on your link in this post that mentions your “before” kitchen, the link doesn’t load that post – just wanted to let you know. Best, Jill
