I am so glad we have a national day to honor all of our Veterans. They should be honored every day. My special Veteran Jim passed away on August 13, 2020. He served our country in the Air Force. He is buried in the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona in Phoenix. It is such a blessing to be able to honor him again this year.
It is such a beautiful cemetery. Every grave and all the grounds are so lovingly cared for. I am so happy that Jim has been buried there.
For Veterans Day and Holidays, every grave is marked with a flag. It is such a spectacular sight to see. 46,000+ flags honoring each Veteran.
The grounds are always open to the public. I visit Jim 2 to 3 times a week. I miss him so much. My emotions are still fragile and raw, but I am trying to honor him by carrying on with our life the best I can. I know I have been blessed more than some with the 36 years we shared. Every day of those 36 years, he cared, loved, and provided for me. Most of all he made sure I knew he loved me.
He always gave the best hugs and I loved the way he would hold me. I think I miss that the most. The National Memorial Cemetery will allow me to be buried with him when my time comes. That truly is a blessing that I can join him again someday. Every day I try to honor him as a wife that was blessed to be married to such a remarkable man.
I love you with all my heart.
I think of you often and keep you in my prayers. I also appreciate the many men and the sacrifices made by their families making it possible to enjoy the freedoms we take for granted. Hugs and comfort to you.
This is a beautiful tribute to a Veteran and your husband. I know what you are feeling and as they say, “It is the price we pay for loving someone so completely”. May God bless you and your family.
This is such a special and loving tribute, Marty. I think of you all the time and continue to pray for you and your family. I’m thankful we have men like Jim to fight for freedoms so many never have the chance to enjoy. We need more heroes like him and the families that stand beside them that’s for sure 🙂 Sending you big hugs and tons of love, CoCo

Oh, Marty, I am crying big tears for you and your beloved Jim. Eric and I would often go to that cemetery on holidays to visit. It truly is a lovely place. I thank your husband so very much for his service. Blessings dear one.
So very beautiful. I hardly know you, yet I feel as though I do. Take care of yourself and be gentle.

Marty, what a loving tribute to your beloved Jim. I am so thankful for his service. Blessings sweet lady.
I did not know that Jim was an air force veteran. That just makes my memories of him that much sweeter. He was a great boss at Gardener’s World when I worked with him in 1992-1993. Truly missed in the Master Gardener World.
What a beautiful tribute, Marty. Thinking of you often.
Thanks for continuing to post and share with us. It must be so hard for you to have a missing link.
“You never know when the last time will be the last time”
In our prayers every day.
Thinking of you as the holidays approach. This year will be different for you, and I trust your family will be there to lift you when you are down, just as you and your posts lift your extended ‘family’ out here in blog land. My dad was a WWII vet, and he and my mother are buried in the National Cemetery in Springfield, MO.
My family will all be together for Thanksgiving and Christmas, so they will help me through these two holidays. These holidays will be hard and so different without Jim, but I hope we can all remember him with sweet memories. I am so glad your mom and dad are buried together at the National Cemetery in Springfield. Such an honor. God Bless.
Marti-I don’t check your site very often so I was very much saddened by the news of your loss. As we all, you will be in my thoughts and virtual love being sent your way. Thank you for sharing.
