Cozy Reading Corner Sitting Area

I think every home needs a place where you can curl up and relax with a good book.  A Cozy Reading Corner Sitting Area is one of my favorite places.  When we moved into this home three and a half years ago, I claimed the loft as my Girl Cave/Office.  It is one of my favorite rooms in the house.

Our September Pinterest Challenge is for a Cozy Reading Corner Sitting Area.

Bloggers are given a challenge each month to create our own interpretation of a gorgeous image from Pinterest.   A big thank you to Cindy at COUNTRY ROAD 407 for organizing this fun challenge.  If you are coming over from StoneGable I know you were as impressed with Yvonne’s beautiful room as I always am.

Our inspiration this month comes from Allie @ Proverbs 31 Girl.  She used her fireplace as the inspiration for her beautiful Cozy Reading Corner Sitting Area.

I love the loft area in our home.  It is where I set up my office space and a comfortable seating area where I can read a good book or watch one of my favorite TV programs.  All the furniture in this space didn’t find a home somewhere else when we moved in.  Lucky for me because it turned out perfect for the loft.  A comfy leather chair, little settee, a few end tables, and more of my clock collection and this is one of my favorite rooms.

A gateleg table serves as my desk.  This is a table I’ve had for years.  I wanted something that would work for a desk but didn’t look like a desk and this table is perfect.  There’s a drawer for storage too.  I added a small bookcase on the wall to hold all of my daily necessary office supplies – pads, papers, pens, staples and etc.

I found an office chair at Goodwill and recovered it to give it a little character.  You can see my tutorial on how to Upholster an Office Chair here.  This is such an easy project and took a $20 chair and turned it into a custom chair.

A great lamp and a couple of clocks from my collection and this corner next to the railing became the perfect office for me.

The wall opposite the sitting area is filled with a bookcase entertainment unit that holds all my office supplies and a TV.

That leather chair is my favorite place to sit and curl up with my latest book or magazine.  A special spot that I can call my own.

Do you have a favorite place to curl up with a good book?

What a wonderful spot you have for working and relaxing, Marty! I love the way you set up a desk using your table and how you decorated the wall behind it with vintage clocks hanging on the wall. I am so glad that you are back to blogging. I’ve been thinking about you and sending you prayers.

A loft is an excellent space to use for reading or working Marty, and you have all the bases covered for comfort. Your leather chair is perfect for reading and I love the darling gate leg table.

Absolutely beautiful! Love that cozy corner and I love that leather chair. I’m afraid it would be used more for catnaps than reading!

You moved in 3 1/2 years ago (?!) it seems like last year. I so appreciate seeing how you’ve changed your ‘builder basic’ into such a warm and cozy home. We have lived on our property for over 40 years and next year will move to a tract home. When my stomach starts to turn and I get nervous about the move, I look thru your old posts and see all the lovely changes you made. Happy fall.

I love your office and reading area, Marty… I SO want to find a little round table like that to act as my office space. Not easy to find, at least not her in So Cal! Great spin on the inspo pic!

Oh how I wish I had a girl cave Marty! Even if it’s left over furniture, it’s lovely and seems like the perfect place to hang our, read a book or blog. Love your clocks too. Thank you so much for joining in this month. Big hugs.

I remember when you wrote about your office area, Marty! It is a perfect reading spot up there. Love the settee with the other chairs nearby…

Enjoy your sweet sitting area this fall. I’m sure the heat likes to congregate up there too – perfect as we get cooler. <3

    Happy fall to you,
    Barb 🙂
