It Really Works-My Shower Doors Are Finally Clean

Do you have soap scum on your shower doors and can’t get them clean?  Try this simple method to have yours clean and sparkling in no time.

The master bathroom in our new home was really builder basic, then we did a mini makeover and it looked so much better.  I loved it.

Only problem, the shower doors always looked dirty.  I have tried everything.  I have scrubbed the shower doors in our master bathroom almost daily since we moved in.  They just always looked like they had soap scum and drippy runs down the doors no matter what I did.  Now part of the problem is frosted doors.  They are so hard to take care of because soap just seems to stick in all those tiny groves of the frosted side and you just can’t get them clean.

I had read some time back that you could use Dryer Sheets to clean your shower doors.

I remembered the other day and decided to give the Dryer Sheets a try.  OMG, they work.  Now the directions said to use a new or used dampened dryer sheet and scrub away.  No need to rinse.  I did that and it created kind of a foamy cleansing agent that did scrub the door.  However it left it really streaky, so I used a cloth to wipe it off.  Still a little streaky.  So once I could see that most of the soap scum was cleaned off, I got out the Scrubbing Bubbles and sprayed down the doors.  I let it sit for a minute then took a wet rag and washed it away.

You won’t believe how clean my doors are.  No scum, no drips, no runs and even the frosted side is clean.

See, nothing and all you can see is the shadow of the chrome shower caddy that sits in that corner

I am thrilled, now I feel like I am getting clean too.

So if you have shower doors that are driving you crazy – – –

give the Dryer Sheet and Scrubbing Bubbles a try.  It worked great on my doors.

That’s impressive. Never heard of dryer sheets used on shower doors. Did you wet them first ?
I am so glad this house does not have glass shower doors.

Yes, I wet them and used them as scrub rags. It really did work. Marty

Dryer sheets are also good for getting dead bugs off of your car. Just dampen the sheet and scrub away. It doesn’t hurt the finish of the car. This tip was given to us by our exterminator in Florida during love bug season.

Dryer sheets work for getting all the cooked on stuff that accumulates on oven shelves off. Line your tub with towels, lay dryer sheets over the towels, place shelves on sheets, add more sheets on top the add warm water. Let it soak overnight and all the grime comes off very easily as you wipe the shelves with the sheets. It’s genius!

This wonderful tip took the iron colored stain out of the drain areas in the cultured marble molded-in sinks in our owners bath. That is a big big win! Now I am going to cut some dryer sheets into small squares and keep them in the bathroom for regular sink cleaning. Thanks for this hint! Sadly, this did not work on the shower door, but it has had the drippy mineral deposit look since we moved in 14 years ago and I have tried everything but 3000 grit wet-dry sandpaper on it.

Does this trick work for shower walls? We have one of those one-piece units that is molded to look like tile. With our hard water & soap scum, I can never seem to get the shower clean. Any sure-fire tips appreciated!

Wow, haven’t tried it on the shower walls. I always clean mine with a soft mixture of bar keepers friend. The rinse well with warm water. They seem to stay clean with no buildup. Thanks, Marty
